Bulletproof Monk's R.A. Jones Brings Us Twilight Grimm

R.A. Jones writes for Bleeding Cool about their latest project being Kickstarted right now.
My 50+ year love affair with comic books began when I plunked down 12 cents at a drugstore in Tulsa and took home my copy of Avengers #17. That same copy, dog-eared and tattered from constant reading but still treasured, now resides with other items in the archives of the Oklahoma Historical Society. It was that comic book and the thousands of others I went on to consume that inspired me to become a writer. That first comic book starred Captain America as leader of the superhero team.
When, nearly four decades later, I wrote the Wolverine/Captain America series for Marvel and it was I now trying to bring that character to life just as Stan Lee had done in the original story — it was the culmination of a lifelong dream. I've been blessed to work for many of the other major publishers of my day as well: from an Alan Scott Green Lantern story for DC, to adapting one of Harlan Ellison's classic short stories for Dark Horse, to writing and editing series published by Image, to scripting scores of issues of various titles for Malibu.
I co-wrote Bulletproof Monk, which inspired a motion picture of the same title. Two comics stories I wrote were adapted as episodes of the French television series Metal Hurlant Chronicles. Naturally, I've witnessed lots of changes in the comics industry. Two of the biggest were the rise and dominance of the direct sales market, which made independent publishing viable; and the growing acceptance of the legitimacy of the comics medium in the eyes of the general public, in large part due to the enormous success of comics-inspired movies. After devoting most of the past decade to prose and having written or co-written a dozen books, I am delighted to be jumping feet first back into writing comics, thanks largely to publisher Roland Mann and his unabashed co-conspirators at Silverline Comics.
At this very moment, a Kickstarter campaign is fully underway to help finance two exciting new series I'm working on for Silverline: Divinity, a modern-day thriller created by Barb Kaalberg; and Twilight Grimm, a vampire tale illustrated by my longtime friend and collaborator Rob Davis. And I have more yet to come…
