Noir Comic Book Series 'Lodger' to Debut in October
The title comes from the creators of the cult favorite 'Stray Bullets.'
IDW Publishing’s Black Crown imprint — created and headed by former DC Vertigo executive editor Shelly Bond — is expanding with a brand-new series from the creators of the critically acclaimed crime comic Stray Bullets, it was announced Saturday afternoon.
The new series, Lodger, was unveiled at the IDW’s Big News Panel presentation at San Diego Comic-Con. Created by David and Maria Lapham, the series — described by Maria Lapham as “a twisted love story, dark and grimy, like all the best crime noir” — follows a serial killer who escapes capture by traveling across the Midwest as a travel blogger using the pseudonym “Lodger.” That isn’t to say that he’s escaped pursuit, however — even as he crosses the country, he’s being followed by Ricky Toledo, a teenager who fell for the killer years earlier when he rented a room in her home…and then proceeded to kill her mother.
“When it comes to crime fiction in any medium, one name remains unparalleled,” Bond said in a statement from the publisher. “The Laphams bring over twenty years of blood, guts, and glory to Black Crown with this lurid tale of lust, secret identities, and sweet revenge.”
The new series will launch in October.
