Bad Idea, the comic book company spearheaded by Hunter Gorinson, Dinesh Shamdasani, Warren Simons, Atom Freeman and Josh Johns, confirmed its plans to cease operations.
"We regret to inform you that despite our best efforts and all of your wonderful support, Bad Idea as we know it must end," the company announced. "Our sincerest thanks for the incredible journey. We will be announcing and releasing books through the end of the year. Beyond that, Bad Idea is over."
Founded in 2020, Bad Idea is a comic book publisher that prided itself on bucking the trends of traditional comic distribution through "bad ideas." At launch, the company announced it would produce a limited number of series, releasing only one to two issues per month; priced at $3.99, each issue would come in a prestige-format package, with no variant covers, no digital copies and no collected editions. It also began by only distributing its books to 20 select retailers before eventually expanding to more.
Titles from Bad Idea include Matt Kindt, Doug Braithwaite and Diego Rodriguez's Eniac, Robert Venditti, Juan Jose Ryp and Jordie Bellaire's Tankers, Marguerite Bennet and Renato Guedes' The Lot and Zeb Wells, David Lafuente and Ulises Arreola's Slay Bells, among others.
